The European Union’s law enforcement mechanism, Europol, has demonstrated a safety infringement of its web doorway but states no functional data was compromised. The infamous cyberpunk batch IntelBroker has asserted duty for the hack, alleging they embezzled susceptible data, including classified records.
According to IntelBroker, the violation happened in May 2024 and affected several Europol systems, including the Europol Platform for Experts (EPE), a knowledge-sharing portal law enforcement professionals operate. The cyberpunk insists on having accessed “For Official Use Only” (FOUO) reference code, records, and a database with the confidential data of cybercrime specialists. IntelBroker also alleges they compromised the SIRIUS medium utilized by judicial and law enforcement officers from 47 nations to access electronic proof in illegal examinations.
The crowd is proposing to trade the allegedly robbed Europol data and is requesting compensation in Monero cryptocurrency. In a comment, Europol stated they were conscious of the happening and had brought initial steps but highlighted that no functional data had been compromised.
“The incident involves a Europol Platform for Expert (EPE) sealed user group,” Europol said. “No core methods of Europol are impacted and thus, no operating data from Europol has been compromised.” Yet, this is not the foremost protection happening to smash the EU police agency.
